Welcome to our website.
Stonehouse Methodist Church
Church Services are every Sunday usually at 10:30am. If you hear singing before then, don't worry, the church music group sometimes sings to welcome people as they arrive. Everybody is welcome. We publish a monthly newsletter, full of information, articles, book reviews, some jokes and inspiring stories. You can have a copy by coming to the church and asking for one. It's free, but a donation is never turned away!

Looking for the signs - Spring is well and truly on the way, some of it seemed to arrive early with Daffodils in bloom in February. When I have been out walking Gideon I have noticed the green shoots on the trees, along with the lengthening of the days we know that spring is here and summer is just round the corner. I should imagine that we all tend to look for these signs to tell us that summer is coming. Signs are useful and a part of everyday life. When driving around the country we rely on instructions from road signs giving us directions or guidance on what the road conditions are like. Signs outside of the church which tell everyone that the building is a Methodist Church. We cannot go about our daily life without encountering signs of one form or another. The Christian faith has many signs. There were the signs that were around at the birth of Jesus, notably the star, and indeed Jesus spoke about signs. Perhaps one of the most well-known signs of our faith is the cross and the empty tomb. These are signs which point us to the resurrection of Jesus, with the Cross reminding us and pointing us to the way the Jesus died. The empty tomb is a sign of Jesus resurrection and through his resurrection the promise of life for all who believe in Him. Both signs also point to God’s love for us. John 3:16 sets out to affirm God’s love “for God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.” (N.R.S.V). The important word here is ‘gave’.
